Easy + Fun Suncatchers

These easy + fun suncatchers are a great activity for kids and adults alike. The gems are pretty small so as long as your little one doesn’t put them in their mouth they should LOVE this activity. And let’s be honest adults dig making them too. A perfect handmade gift for grandparents or a simple project to hang in the window above the sink to enjoy daily.

Four simple supplies are all you will need:

  • Clear Glue- I buy this in bulk @ Oriental trading for a pretty good price.
  • Glass Gems- Located in the floral or craft section.
  • Plastic Mold- We simply use Rubbermaid lids.
  • Suction Cup Hangers-I found a pack of ten of them at the dollar store.

Instructions:

Place gems in any pattern you desire filling the entire mold. Pour glue over the gems so each one is completely covered. Let dry for a few days. Pop out the suncatchers and allow the side that was face down, which is probably still a little wet, to dry. Hook a suction hanger between two gems on the outside row. Viola!! You have a beautiful suncatcher to hang in your favorite window.

We used clear, blue, and green gems. Did you try this project? Which colors did you use? We would love to see how yours turned out! Looking for more fun craft projects to do with the kids? Here is a list of 14 days worth of activities we just know you will love.
