Did you know these amazing facts about reading? According to The Literacy Child Foundation:
  • Books contain many words that children are unlikely to encounter frequently in spoken language. Books for kids actually contain 50% more words that children are unlikely to encounter
  • The number of books in the home correlates significantly with higher reading scores for children.
  • Children who are read to at least three times a week by a family member are almost twice as likely to score in the top 25% in reading compared to children who are read to less than 3 times a week.
  • Reading and being read aloud to has an impact that extends beyond just hearing stories.

Our bedtime routine includes snuggling in bed and reading to the kiddos at night before lights out. On long days I long for this quiet time with my children. To have a few moments just to be still together enjoying a story is good for my soul. Because to be honest, there are some days that I simply fail at being the Mom I want to be for this crew. However, in the time before bed while we read and they are snuggled up close all seems right in the world.

Want to not only exchange but maybe even add to your book collection? We LOVE the deals and the quality of books on Kidsbooks.com. The books truly are a steal! The majority of our Christmas shopping will be on Kidsbooks.com this year. Shipping can add up with sending our gifts to family across the United States. Gifting books receives bonus points because the media rate is super economical! Another option, Lilypost, is a fabulous set and forget subscription service. You can personalize to deliver books on a timeline of your choosing straight to your kiddos. Here is a post we did a while ago reviewing our experience with the service.

We are excited to be the first on the list to be matched with another family for exchanging books. Remember to fill out this form and you are on your way to new to you books on your bookshelf. Looking for more than books? The Road Knott Taken also has a care package exchange for not only books but toys and crafts too. We are excited to read all about the books you receive in this book exchange.
